HISTORY OF THE PUB
Many years ago, the town of Somerton used to be known as a coaching centre. Many of the local buildings, including The Globe, boasts from still having the original features that can still be seen today. The pub itself stands on the site of what used to be Somerton Castle which was then later converted into the county goal. The pubs current structure incorporates elements from the 15th, 17th and 19th centuries, with a 18th century façade that extended further into the market place. While the pub has been decorated since, we still like to maintain original features including exposed beams, brick walls and a large open fire to keep that traditional feel.

Film Making
In 1986, The Globe and many other local businesses and buildings were lucky enough to be featured in the BBC production of 'The Monocled Mutineer' staring Paul McGann. If you look to the top left of the pub, the 'telegraph' door can still be seen!

Come experience the unique charm and warmth of The Globe. Where history meets hospitality.
